Hello
from Ron Fredman, Scoutmaster of Troop 61, one of the oldest and best-known Boy Scout troops in the Kansas
City area. Since 1925 we have developed more than 1,500 young men into young leaders,
with over 300 of them attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
Though we are sponsored by Beth Shalom, we are truly the Jewish Community's troop. We have families from nearly every congregation in our ranks as well as young men
from other faiths. Third-generation 61'ers are not uncommon, a true testament to the
power of our program.
It doesn't take long to see why 61 is so special. Just spend a day with us at Scout Camp each summer. You'll feel the enthusiasm. Join our family and friends at our Turkey Hike in
November, our Courts of Honor throughout the year, our monthly campouts or our
weekly meetings. The camaraderie is something to behold.
It's no different now than when I was a Scout in 61 more than three decades ago. It's no different now than when my leaders were Scouts in 61 three decades before that. It'll be no different 30 years into the future, when our current Scouts' sons join our
ranks.
If you're part of our troop now, welcome back to your Web site. If you're an alumnus, welcome back to your troop. If you're thinking of joining Scouting, there's no better place
in this town than Troop 61.
Give me a call. I'm always happy to chat!
Yours in Scouting,
Ron Fredman,
Assistant
Scoutmaster
